If you have a young child, chances are you've heard of the much-loved children's book,
The Gruffalo. Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, it's a favourite at children's story time sessions.
Children love the story of Mouse, who can scare hungry animals away with tall stories of the terrifying Gruffalo but then comes face to face with the very creature she imagined.
Chances are you have also heard that the Gruffalo is visiting Perth in June, as part of Tall Stories Theatre Company's award-winning live production. The show will be at two Perth venues only -
Koorliny Arts Centre on June 14 and
The State Theatre from June 17-22. The show is amazing, as you can see from this
video clip .
But, did you know that the Gruffalo will be visiting Rockingham and Kwinana libraries from May 23-30? Accompanied by a storytelling friend, the Gruffalo will be at children's story time sessions on the following dates:
Warnbro Community Library, May 23 at 10.30am;
Safety Bay Library, May 27 at 10.30am;
Rockingham Regional Library, May 29 at 10am; and
Kwinana Library, May 30 at 10am.
The Gruffalo is hoping to say hello to as many children as he can before his turn under the spotlight... and don't worry, he won't eat anyone. He may just make a squeaky roar while his friend reads his story.
If you can't get the kids to a storytime session, you can still see
The Gruffalo onstage in Perth. The delectable musical tale is bound to delight children aged 3 to 8 and their adults.
Tickets at Koorliny Arts Centre range from $18-22 (book
here ) and State Theatre Centre tickets cost $26 (book
