Luke de Laeter is not your typical teenager. This 16-year-old from Bicton has made a name for himself as one of the youngest beekeepers in the state and as a passionate educator about bees and the environment. He has his own hive of bees which he keeps in his backyard and his own business, Luke's Bees, where he sells jars of honey that he harvests from his hive.

Luke is so enthusiastic about bees he has visited more than 3,000 students in more than 50 schools around Perth to educate people about bees and all of the good things that they do. Luke has gained a lot attention for his interactive presentations about bees. He talks about the important role bees play in sustainability, the harmful effect that pesticides have on bee populations and shares a lot of interesting facts about bees that will keep kids captivated.

Luke will be holding an educational 'Meet a Bee Keeper' session at the AH Bracks Library in Melville on Saturday, 17 August 2019 from 11am to 12.30pm as part of National Science Week. This event will be FREE to attend but bookings will be essential due to limited spots. To register your spot please click here.
