It's about this time of year when you are scrolling through social media and the holiday blues seem to kick in. Picturesque photos of couples walking down cobblestone streets or relaxing in Positano with an Aperol Spritz are just too damn depressing. Ever just long for a bit of a Mediterranean escape? Well, you might need to keep saving those dollars for the actual experience, but for authentic Italian in a homely environment, why not head over to the Mediterranean Food Company in Tuam Street.
The company have been active for over seventeen years and are the proud importers and retailers of select produce from the heart of Europe. Their range of produce includes all my favourite loves, salami, cheese, olive oil, pasta, olives, wine and house-made products like fresh bread, takeaway lasagna, tiramisu and much much more. Each supplier is selected to bring you the very best in authentic Mediterranean produce and cuisine.
I have had the pleasure of heading over to the Mediterranean Food Company on many occasions, sometimes just to pick up a few items for a cheese board, or other times just to dine in and enjoy one of their delicious dishes. One such one is the Vongole Pasta. This is a seafood lover's dream! The dish comes with a generous helping of clams and cooked in a mouth-watering white wine, garlic and parsley dish.

The Mediterranean company is best known not only for its exquisite selection of imported goods and house-made cuisine but also their desserts. Tiramisu is a crowd favourite (which I have yet to try) but I have heard wonderful things. Their freshly baked bread fly out the door. I would highly recommend the rosemary and sea salt circular loaf, paired with some cured meats is the ultimate in platter indulgence. If you find yourself wanting to indulge or escape, then head over to the Mediterranean Food Company for a good helping of European delight.
