The bohemian hub for spirituality and healing

On a busy road in the heart of the Sydney CBD, a peaceful space for those who are seeking a spiritual refugee from their busy schedules, urban noises and the everyday stresses out there can be found at Meditation Space It is a bohemian hub for spirituality and healing.

Meditation Space is operated by Brahma Kumaris Australia, whose mission is to bring spirituality to life. The centre is a bottle-shaped space, with narrow escalators leading to a spacious room at the back of the building, decorated with many green pot plants. It has an kitchen attached to a big dining table beside the meditation space. Light snacks are also provided after the meditation and the class. I've also received a prayer card from the class I went to - it is a little card with a inspiring quote to meditate on.

Their regular programs are Morning Meditation Class; Thursday Talk, Movement Meditation; Sunday Evening Meditations. The variety of spiritual workshops and talks are focused on self reflection and personal empowerment. You can grow spiritually at your own learning pace with other like-minded people.

Morning Meditation Class

Morning Meditation classes welcomes those who have a basic knowledge of meditation. The classes will begin with a 30-minutes silent meditation, followed by a 30-minutes scripture reading. The classes operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6:30am-7:30am.

Movement Meditation

If you think you can't really last long by sitting still and meditating, then movement meditation gives you a new concept of meditation. You can relax your body and mind with some gentle movements accompanied by some relaxing music.

Thursday Talk

Thursday Talk encourages people with different levels of meditation experience to come and share their wisdom and inspire other followers. You can exchange your mind and learn something from other meditators. The program normally starts with a half and hour silent meditation, and then a 45 minutes themed topic discussion with a guest speaker. The class will finish with a Questions and Answers section. Upcoming topics are "Inner Feng Shi, Inner Relationship"; "Create a new habbits-7 steps"; "SOULS-documentary of yogi from all over the world".

Sunday Evening Meditations
It is an one hour long mass meditation and everyone is welcome. On every third Sunday of each month, there is a World Meditation Hour. During the session, the participants will watch a special audio visual commentary and meditate on the theme provided by the audio program.

Special Events: Women Empowerment Group

The group is specially designed to create a community where women can gather and support each other in their personal spiritual development journey. Outstanding women are invited as special guest speakers to come and give a talk and share their insights and experiences as a woman in the journey of finding self. The talks are normally organised during Wednesday evenings. So please visit Meditation Space website for more details. Upcoming guest speaker is Gina Lazenby, on the topic of "The Rising of Feminine" from 6:30pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, 7 November.
