Kick Start the New Year
Have you made a New Year's resolution to get fitter in 2018? Here's a chance to kick-start a healthier, happier year by heading to Little Stanley Street Lawns (southern end), South Bank Parklands, South Bank, and being the best you possible. You will discover experiences to satisfy your mind, body and soul.

Held outside in the beautiful South Bank Parklands, you are sure to enjoy the fresh air and exercise . These free yoga classes concentrate on stretching and holding poses (asanas), relaxation and breath control to improve your wellbeing. You will notice better flexibility, balance, and core strength. No wonder yoga has been around for millennia and spans the globe.

In fact, yoga dates back over 5000 years in ancient India. Yoga encompasses not only physical practices, but also philosophy and religion (Buddhist Hindu). The physical, mental and spiritual disciplines combine for holistic good health and happiness, Breath control and energy flow are considered the keys to successful yoga practice. It is a popular form of exercise in most western and eastern countries around the wold today.

The classes area part of South Bank's free Medibank Feel Good Programme. They are being held from Monday 29 January until Saturday 31 March. There will be 8 different fitness and stretching classes. You will be pleased to know that they are all taught by fully qualified instructors (gurus). Absolute beginners and experienced yoga participants are all welcome. It is non-competitive and each person works to his or her own abilities and limits. Bookings are not essential; you just have to turn up before the allotted time, in comfortable and loose clothing, and find a nice spot on the grass.

For the full program, head to the Medibank Feel Good Programme's homepage here. The yoga classes are held on the Little Stanley Street Lawns. In the event of wet weather classes may be cancelled or relocated. Keep an eye on updates posted on South Bank's social media pages.
