It's sort of a vegetarians worst nightmare, but to meat lovers, welcome home.

With American 'Soul Food' making a comeback and the Paleo diet more popular than ever, it simply seems only logical that a place that serves meat and meat would be a hit.

Hence why MeatMaiden is getting everyone in Melbourne licking their lips, literally.

Launched by the same team from Meatmother, Neil Hamblen and Nick Johnston have welcomed Melbourne chef Justin Wise, (formerly of The Point Albert Park and Press Club), to open this tasty little spot in the basement of the Georges Building on Little Collins Street.

Go with a group so you can enjoy more of the dishes by sharing and start with the southern fried chicken ribs (pictured above) with jalapeno mayonnaise or the lobster mac and cheese (decadent and divine!).

There's also the Tajima wagyu brisket, a 10-hour beef short rib cooked in a smoker and a porterhouse from the grill that will make you simply happy to be alive. No joke.

If meat isn't your thing, that's ok too, there's still a few menu options you can enjoy with your carnivorous mates like the smoked eggplant. But by and large this is a place for meaty yumminess.

The drinks list is short and sweet with six beers on tap and the best part is that MeatMaiden is open until the wee hour of 1am so when you're having a night out and could seriously go for some wicked fried chicken- no probs!

You'll find MaetMaiden underneath the Georges Building at 195 Little Collins Street Melbourne CBD.
