Dan Willis the British comedian is back for his seventh Fringe World festival with a brand-new show. First, he had a whinge about being a pom living in Australia, now Dan has a few things to say about relationships and married life in The Meaning of Wife, a beginner's guide to marriage and other tortures.

Dan has been a comedian for 20 years and has been married for 6 years. He has worked multiple comedy shows and festivals around the world, but nothing scares him more than being heckled by his own wife. In this hilarious 60-minute show, Dan examines his past relationships and what went wrong, and shares his thoughts on married life and why he decided to settle down and get himself a wife.

Dan was born in Yorkshire in 1973. Before he was a comedian, Dan spent 12 years working in IT. After the dot.com crash of 2002, he was forced to change careers, and decided to become a stand-up comedian. It was during this time he was forced to move back in with his parents at the age of 34. After a long string of failed relationships, he decided the time was now right to find someone and settle down with them. But before he could do that, he had to find the right person. But how would he know when he found the right person? A short while later, he met an Australian woman, and decided he would move from the UK to commit to living with her in Australia. The two of them later got married and had a daughter together. Dan calls his wife his "little visa" and his daughter his "little anchor".

Dan Willis is one of the most experienced British comedians to tour Australia. He has headlined in every major club in the country and has performed 2,000 times in comedy venues and festivals all around the world. In 2017 he debuted a comedy show called Australia: A Whinging Pom's Guide where he shared his thoughts about being a Pom living in Australia and talked about all the things he missed from back home.

Dan did a really good job interacting with the audience in The Meaning of Wife. He got a lot of laughs out of people with his observations. He asked people questions about their relationships, how they met, if they were married, what their weddings were like and poked fun at the single people in the audience. He talked about internet dating, pick-up lines, the decline of romance, and how it was common to chat people up in bars before dating apps and swiping right became a thing. I liked listening to his thoughts and opinions about what married life has been like for him. He joked about marrying an Aussie bogan, talked about what planning his wedding was like, and the joy he gets out of doing things that drives his spouse nuts.

The Meaning of Wife is showing on the Roof Deck at the Court for a number of dates in January and February.
