is a pretty little country town of around 800 people which hosts a vibrant country market on the second Sunday of the month.

You can reach a variety of ways, but my favourite route is via the freeway to Stirling, then a scenic drive through Aldgate, Mylor and Echunga to .

Another very scenic drive which only takes a few minutes more is through Blackwood, Clarendon and Kangarilla.

looks a little lost in time with quaint architecture and sleepy streets, but one thing is good for is nourishing a weary traveller. There are quite a selection of food shops, although their opening hours vary. Needless to say there is also a Hotel too, although I couldn't find any website or Facebook for it.

I can never resist a country bakery to explore their range of gourmet pies though, and chances are excellent that the Bakeryand Tea Rooms will be open daytimes on a weekend.

Seeking more healthy fare? Take a look at Balance Cafe and Gift Shop - who knows, they may persuade you to check out their Tribal Belly Dancing classes as a warm-up before your meal.

If you're passing through in the evening then Gordo's Cafe and Pizzeria is also in the running. Not only do they produce your traditional pizzas, but they have been offering a range of mouth-wateringly fresh Thai food lately to tempt your taste buds.

Feeling comfortably full from your meal, wander down the main street to burn off some calories and peek in at Gaslight Antiques and Gallery.

Or if like me you have a hankering for history, struggle through the undergrowth at St George's church and follow the story of early settlers in the overgrown graveyard.

If you came out on a weekend, be sure to check whether any of the other local country markets are happening. Both Strathalbyn Market and Macclesfield are worth visiting, and each are quite different.
