I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
When staying at Wildlife Retreat at Taronga you have exclusive access to dine at Me-Gal as part of the accomodation package. The restaurant sits high above the retreat and the large windows make the most of the commanding views of the Sydney CBD and harbour. The drinks menu is comprehensive and includes cocktails as well as beer, wine and spirits.
Gursu Mertel, the executive chef, has over 15 years of international experience in the kitchens of five star hotels, resorts and events venues. He designs menus that utilise locally sourced, quality produce and change seasonally. There are gluten free and vegetarian options, as well as child friendly meals.
The portion sizes were not huge, but enough, and all of our senses were satisfied because of the high quality of the ingredients, immaculate presentation, professional, friendly service and scintillating city views.
On arrival at the retreat, you will be assigned a dinner and breakfast seating time that suits. Sydney can be viewed in a different light during the breakfast dining session. Due to the restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it is cooked and served to order rather than a buffet but there is no limit on items ordered.
