I'll Bet You Can't Resist This Amazing Swing Either
With the warmer weather approaching, we're always looking for somewhere lovely to take the children where we, as parents, can relax also.
The Yarra Valley has always been a much loved destination for weekends or the school holidays and now there is another reason to visit.
They have recently opened a beautiful adventure playground and picnic area.
There are lots of shaded areas and bench seats for parents to relax in under the trees.
The entire park is surrounded by beautiful grassland and walking tracks; you could even bike ride along these tracks.
They have undercover sheltered areas where you can cook a barbecue and plenty of picnic tables.
If you find yourself in this area and realise you have forgotten lunch, just across the road is a great bakery and a supermarket. What could be handier?
[ADVERT]The activities for the children range from tube slides to swinging seats, large see-saws that will hold six people at a time, rotating discs to sit upon, great climbing frames, swings, and roundabouts.
They also have public toilets and basic amenities.
For the older children, at the top of the park is a brightly coloured skate park complete with ramps for doing aerial tricks.
One of the rides that I found most interesting was a large disk suspended from high up that rotates and swings backwards and forwards. Gosh, I nearly jumped on and had a go myself.
There are metal sculptures and lots of uneven rocks to climb up and down. In one area there is a sculpture of a large metal dung beetle rolling a big ball of dung and around him are soft ant hills, made from recycled rubber that make great climbing structures for the children.
You could make a day of it and visit the Yarra Valley Chocolate Factory for a decadent morning or afternoon tea or perhaps browse through some of the cute curio shops in Yarra Glen.
Yarra Glen playground is located on the Main Street of Yarra Valley, opposite the IGA supermarket complex and the lakes.
