Heartwarming, true story for the whole family
Many movies follow a proven formula closely, but if one such movie is not only written well, but also well executed, it can be pulled off with great success.

McFarland USA is a true story based off a 1987 cross country team from a Latino Highschool in McFarland, California. In the 1980s McFarland was one of the poorest towns in America. Times were unimaginably tough for the people of McFarland and when the school hired Jim White (Kevin Costner) as the new science teacher and coach, the students were less than pleased. This story takes you along the journey of Jim White and McFarland Highschool's cross country team.

Everything about this movie is so well done that it has become a favourite to many. The clean humor throughout it easily brings smiles to the viewers' faces and the acting is exceptional. McFarland USA is brought to life in the very room you're in and you can't help, but truly feel for the characters. Their losses become your losses and their triumphs become your triumphs. This is a must-see movie for the whole family.

If you like the movie and are interested in learning more about the facts here is a site that tells what really happened vs what happened in the movie. It also shows the 'reel faces' next to the 'real' faces.
