When you think of McDonald's you think of burgers and fries right? Well did you know that there is a whole different side to McDonald's and it's called McCafe?
McCafe is part of the worldwide McDonalds Chain of Restaurants and the one I visited is located in Spearwood. They offer freshly brewed coffee and delicious cakes and pastries made fresh daily on the premises.
The professionally trained baristas can make an excellent cappuccino, latte, mocha or espresso and there are a variety of cakes and pastries to choose from. The cake cabinet was full of an assortment of muffins, cupcakes, croissants and slices of freshly made cakes and cheesecakes. They also have raisin toast, banana bread or a hot tasty cheese and tomato toastie all great as a snack or a quick lunch.
I don't go to McDonald's very often but I had been shopping and was waiting for a friend, not to mention hanging out for a coffee. I went in not expecting too much but I was pleasantly surprised. The cappuccino I received was excellent and the slice of cheesecake was fresh and delicious.
The flavour was top notch, made from 100% Arabica beans, the coffee was smooth and had non of the burnt taste you sometimes get. The girl that served me was very polite, helpful and professional and really knew her stuff.
I have been back several times since then and have not been disappointed yet.
The prices are great, too, with a small cappuccino costing $3.65, a medium $4.15 and a large $4.65, the prices for cakes are around the $4.00 mark which is pretty reasonable, so on average they are cheaper than most other cafés and you can dine-in or take away.
If you go to McCafe with the kids, they can play in the great playground area while you enjoy your coffee and cake in peace.
Of course the restaurant area can get very busy and packed during certain times but if you can find a quiet little nook, or better still go at a quieter time, it's great.
Why not give McCafe a go next time you fancy coffee and cake? You'll be pleasantly surprised.
