It's time for the people to party at
Maylands Street Festival on
Sunday 10 November 2019 from 1pm to 7pm. The family friendly street festival is back, hosted by
LACE Inc (Local Arts and Community Events) who organise events to bring the community together to take part in and enjoy. They're a newly formed charity run by local volunteers.
The
Festival trail runs over three main precincts from
Eighth Avenue (LACE lounge, local businesses, food and artisan stalls, roving performers) and Whatley Crescent (main stage & more of the same as per 8th ave, plus buskers), over to Railway Parade (youth stage, free kid's activities & more food & local stalls). There's a free fire truck shuttle from
Whatley Cres to Railway Pde for a bit of a fun ride. An accessible and inclusive event, keep your eyes open leading up to the
Festival as
special events celebrating Maylands abounds 'tween the dates of
1-9 November.
The
Railway Parade precinct (by
Dome Cafe Maylands &
Peninsula Tavern ) is the place to be for small people to enjoy bouncy castles, giant games, facepainting by
MollydagFaces , a silent disco and more. Roving entertainment will be on both sides of the tracks including
Pirateman Michael wowing young and old with his
piratey circus tricks. Don't forget
Fireman Kevin's vintage fire truck (
Fire Engine Fun ) to get shuttled over in style if little legs are too tired to move. Once there kids can enjoy a kids stage, art activities and a selection of kid-approved food options like
Sizzler ,
Rancho Sombrero Tex-Mex , and
Shiraz Soft Serve to sooth the hungry tummies with cheese toast, nachos and ice cream.
There are activities for the young and old, roving entertainment, games, rides, bars and coffee shops spread throughout the precinct providing you with opportunities to enjoy yourself for the day.
Derrek Lau (Magician) will be there to bamboozle you with his magic. Feel free to hashtag your pics to

Festival through your eyes. This is Maylands on a big scale with an expected 10-12,000 visitors. If you'd like to be involved and be a part of this amazing event as a
VOLUNTEER , fill in the
application form HERE . Help out for a few hours and have lunch for free. All volunteers will also be placed in a draw to win prizes, including a family pass for the
Caversham Wildlife Park .

The
NTY Property Group 's dunking machine is back by popular demand! To entertain you,
Junkadelic Brass Band (joined by a noisy band of ragtag dads and kids who have created their own instrument from junk),
Sarah Ramsey and
Apocalypso are on board polishing their brass and warming up their vocal cords. There are tasty offerings also on board like
Tikka Tango 's Indian fusion, Brazilian tacos and tapas at
THE TAPI TRUCK , Spanish-German street food from
El Aleman Loco and handmade Chinese steamed buns by
Baolicious . All of the mentioned vendors, entertainers and more are but the tip of the iceberg. Follow the thoroughly comb the
