After the success of Castelli Aperti in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, other spectacular events await tourists in search of cultural, historical and tasty breaks.Indeed, people cruising Croatia or hiking in Austria and Slovenia seem to enjoy and appreciate the Friulian landscapes and heritage more and more. Therefore, weekend drops-in in the regional area are showing a vibrant increase.

Reaching his 13th edition, the project will focus on keeping thirteen villas and historic sites open within the Udine municipality. So, if you are around the towns of Buttrio , Manzano , Pavia di Udine , Premariacco , Pradamano and San Giovanni al Natisone , it will be good to put some of their prestigious buildings on your list. Buttrio will present Casa Beltrame Petruzzi, which is a house built in 1686, Villa Dragoni Daniele and Villa di Toppo Florio, properties of wealthy families of XVII and XVII centuries. Manzano, once a world-renowned hub for the production of chairs, lines up two villas (Villa de Marchi Otellio and Villa Romano); the abbey Abbazia di Rosazzo, founded by a Friulian Patriarch in 1085; the fortress Nussi Deciani; and the archeological area of Castel di Manzano. Then Pavia di Udine will follow with a small church Chiesetta Santissima Trinita, Villa Agricola Pighin and Villa Frattina Caiselli, both of noble lineage. In Pradamano you can visit three massive abodes of Venetian influence, precisely: Villa Giacomelli, Villa Caimo Dragoni and Villa Ottelio (this one was a former summer residency from the one in Manzano). Premariacco and San Giovanni al Natisone will show their masterpieces, Rocca Bernarda and Villa De Brandis**.



All the properties are private, but 32 professional tour guides will lead the guests through a complete visit around any areas. From 10 am till 8 pm guided tours are scheduled every hour, with a lunch break between 1 pm and 2 pm. Entry is free and booking is not necessary. The event suits everyone, including families with kids for many activities have been planned (concerts, art exhibitions, carriages strolls, street markets and tasting itineraries). Typical restaurants and taverns have also subscribed to the event, so don't miss out on the gourmet brasseries where you can eat fine food.

Giardini Aperti FVG

On Sunday, May 21 from 10 am selected private gardens will be open for anyone passionate about flowers and plants. The event will involve residents from the four provinces of Friuli Venezia sGiulia: Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia and Trieste. Here you can see the map. The gardens will be divided by dimensions and the flora. Some of the green properties are located along the cycle lane Udine-Grado, called " Garden Route ".



Cantine Aperte FVG

On the last weekend of the month, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28, a list of 41 well-known wineries and cellars in the region will welcome everyone who enjoys sipping high quality wine. A few of them will also serve a typical dish of the territory, with prices ranging between 8 and 15 euros. Moreover, for the more demanding participants, there is also the opportunity to have a dinner with the winemakers. Prior booking can be made online here .Cheers!
