A family restaurant in lively
Elsternwick ,
Maxy's is perfect for a slap-up meal with plenty of variety. Like everything at Maxy's, the menu is huge. Charcoal grill is their drawcard, but there are endless options besides.
I ordered the Siciliana pasta: pasta with salami and a few vegetables such as onion and capsicum, covered in Napoli sauce. It can be made hot or mild- I ordered mild, which had only the slightest hint of spiciness. Following a poor pasta experience at Maxy's on a previous occasion, I did not expect it to be so good. The serving size was a lot smaller than their standard dinner size, but the pasta tasted amazing and the Napoli sauce perfect.
Meanwhile, my friend had a light lunch of garlic bagels ($4.50), with a giant bowl of chips on the side.
As we went in the middle of the day, there was not much atmosphere in the restaurant. There were few other customers in the large dining area, all spaced far enough apart so we could not hear each other's conversations. It is a completely different during the day as compared to at dinner, when it is lively and packed with customers clinking their cutlery on every night of the week. The upside of going during the day, however, is that the service was much better and the food came out at lightning speed.
One of the more family-friendly venues in Elsternwick, Maxy's has a large range of Middle Eastern and European-style food for all your breakfast, lunch and dinner needs.
