Get your skates on
Children of the '70s and '80s rejoice - roller skating is back! Now you can share the thrills (and spills) of your childhood with your own children. So get your skates on and head to the largest roller skating arena in NSW - Maximum Skating - at Smeaton Grange (near Campbelltown).

The first thing you notice about Max Arena is that it is huge! In fact it is the only international sized roller skating rink in NSW and is equipped to host State, National or International events.

Maximum Skating offers a wide variety of skating activities, suitable for all ages and all ability levels. Whether you are after a bit of fun with friends at a public skating session, learn to skate classes, or something more hard core, Maximum Skating can cater to you. Other classes on offer include inline hockey classes, artisitic rollerskating, speed skating, agility skating or for the really hard core a class covering roller derby skating skills. They also cater for birthday parties and private functions.

Our first stop is the skate hire. You can opt for a pair of traditional roller skates or inline skates. Then it is only a few short steps on to the arena.

If you haven't skated since childhood, or if you are a beginner, there is help at hand. Instead of clinging to the side wall and inching your way slowly around the rink, you can opt to hire a frame to help you with your balance.

Or perhaps your muscle memory will kick in and you'll glide gracefully around the rink like ONJ in Xanadu. It doesn't really matter what your ability as long as you are having fun.

For spectators there is a grandstand area where you can watch all the action. When it comes time for refreshments (& trust me you will need them) there is a Canteen selling cold drinks, coffee and snacks as well as hot food.

There is a lot on offer at Maximum Skating. In addition to all of the classes there are also theme nights (such as the upcoming "Halloween" night on 31st October 2014) and school holiday sessions. For some good old-fashioned fun, get your skates on and head to Maximum Skating.
