"I invite you to watch, smell, taste and feel my love story."
Those are the words that greet you in bold, gold writing as you walk into the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar. Yes, that's right I said chocolate bar. And I'm not talking about a Mars or a Snickers, I'm talking about a café that's menu is based wholly and solely around chocolate.
Chocolate covered capp

Ok, now that I have your attention let's get down to business. The Max Brenner Chocolate Bar is located in Charlestown Square with the best access being on the corner of Fredrick and Pearson St, Charlestown. Charlestown Square is Newcastle's biggest shopping mall and is located just off the Pacific Highway at Charlestown.

As soon as I walked in I was impressed by the mix of classy touches and fun ideas. The place definitely had the feel of a boutique café but had large vats of chocolate in the middle of the room with pipes running from them along the roof to dispensers behind the bar which reminded me of something out of Willy Wonker's Chocolate factory.

As for the menu: a word of warning. If you have a chocolate addiction or are even remotely partial to the odd chocolate here and there then this place could be hazardous to your health. Dishes off the menu include Exploding Chocolate Shots, Tutti Frutti Waffles, Choc-Banana Pizza (literally a chocolate pizza) or you can simply just order a cup of molten chocolate.

I expected to find high end prices as I thought this café offered something more than the ordinary café but was quite surprised to find prices as good if not better than a lot of cafés I have dined at.
The Bald Man

This is definitely an experience worth trying because although I am sure they do exist, I have yet to meet a person that doesn't like chocolate. And chocolate is something this place is definitely not short on. So try some chocolate by the bald man.
