Personal Service and Tasty Food
Peaceful and relaxing
If you haven't been out to Mawson Lakes it's only about 25 minutes from the city. Mawson Lakes was originally swamp land. It is now a little town that has been constructed around a man made lake which features modern art and is surrounded by walking tracks. The town houses a university and a lot of student accommodation.
One block back from the lake is a modern local hotel with gaming facilities. This venue has a dining room with all day dining, a sports bar, a club bar, lounge/gaming room and a bottle shop.
The Mawson Hotel
They also have function, meeting and conference facilities with state of the art audio visual equipment, hotel and apartment accommodation. We stayed in a modern two bedroom serviced self contained apartment. Unlike many apartments I have stayed in this is relatively silent. If others are staying in the adjoining rooms they are very quiet and considerate neighbours. There is very little road noise. I could live here! The apartments have remote secure gated parking and are located above Woolworths, near Target and other essential shopping and services.
The hotel itself offers tourist ideas, DVD hire, car hire, packed lunches, postal and office services, theatre and sporting ticket purchase and more. The receptionist confirmed my airline booking without me leaving the comfort of my own room. It's a bit like having your own personal manservant.
The big buffet breakfast is fantastic value for only $16.90 and kids eat for $7.90. Considering the pancakes and bacon consumed by my little beasties I don't think they made any money from our sitting.
Cooked breakfast at a steal
On Monday and Tuesday night kids eat for free but you have to be there between 3-6pm. Don't turn up one minute late because there's no bending the rules. Apparently, the cash register is run by a pedantic computer that rules out any exceptions to the 6pm deadline. They also have an extensive in room dining menu.
Gaming room if you feel like a bit of a flutter
So, if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation with all the bells and whistles in a quiet spot in Adelaide, this might be the place for you. While at Mawson Lakes take a walk around the lake. It's a popular spot for dog walk or for a different educational experience visit the planetarium at the SA University. Just a two minute walk from the hotel, the Planetarium is only open to the public one weekend a month but worth a visit.
And this is winter!
There's also plenty of cafes and eateries in Mawson Lakes. If the weather is fine you can relax on the edge of the lake and your meals will be delivered to you from the caf across the road. If you like pizza click here for my recommendation.
