Overlooking the bay whilst satisfying your taste buds
Located overlooking the picturesque Moreton Bay is a quaint little cafe called Matthew Thomas. We were quite lucky to have spotted this dwelling as we drove past as the food and service we received here were excellent.
The cafe is within the old Masonic Hall building on top of the hill along Eagle Terrace in Sandgate. The location on any day overlooking the bay is worth a million. The cafe is adorned with a gift shop towards the back of the place and the walls are lined with paintings for sale. The interior is tastefully decorated with lovely pieces of art works for sale.
We were greeted by the friendly and experienced wait staff when we dined here for lunch. The service was good and we did not have to wait very long at all for our food. The menu had a good choice of food options.
All three of us were very happy with our selections and my husband was particularly impressed that the lamb on the burger was real lamb and not a patty. The very substantial meals were devoured with much satisfaction. The view and atmosphere adding to to whole experience.
Matthew Thomas Cafe in Sandgate is also open daily for breakfast until 12 and and all day breakfast menu on the weekends. They serve lunch from 12-2pm daily and offer a high tea on request between 2-4pm for a minimum of 12 people.
Another thing on offer was the homemade fudge for sale. The selection looked very tempting and we could have easily had ourselves a take home pack of fudge, had it not been for our full stomachs.
With seating both indoors and outdoors and offering superb views it was indeed a wonderful find for us. I think breakfast here next time is definitely on our "to do"list especially with the tempting fudge calling our names. Or maybe treat ourselves to cake and coffee.
