Could This Be One Of The Most Controversial Songs Ever?
Melburnians love nothing better than a good laugh. Set amidst a great cafe culture, we seem to adore tiny little hole in the wall places, secret venues if you will, places where we are surprised to discover all manner of events taking place. If this sounds great to you, you will love the Melbourne Comedy Festival and its many locations. One of these great events is currently home to Matt Kilpa's show.

Matt Kilpa in his one man show

Invited along to share in Matt Kilpa's new comedy show - I really had no idea what to expect from "Songs in the Key of Awesomesauce".

Downstairs is a funky little bar where you can have some snacks and a drink before the show begins and get yourself in a happy mood.

When the show is about to commence, you'll be taken through a series of stairways into a secret upstairs room decorated in a somewhat avant-garde manner. Just arriving at the venue, you have an idea that you are in for something a little bit special.

Matt Kilpa's sense of humour and dry wit verges on the end of University comedy, yet it contains all the things that Melburnians love to laugh about. From his self-effacing style of sharing personal information about his private life, through to his dry wet and sense of observational humour.

You will be taken on a journey through his personal traumas to what he notices going on in the world around him in ways which most of the audience can hilariously relate to. Most of his skits have been set to music in songs that he has written and recorded himself.

A little spoiler alert: a lot of the shows and skits are rather adult and probably not something you would want to bring your older children to. As for the reference to the "most controversial songs ever" - you'll just need to come along and find that one out for yourself.

I think one of the great things about the residents of Melbourne is that we get behind our local artists and support them and I would strongly urge you to come along and do just that with this one man show.

"Songs in the Key of Awesomesauce" is a light-hearted one hour show, filling you with laughs, putting you into a good mood and still leaving enough time for you to have dinner afterwards or catch another 2 or 3 performers around Melbourne over this fun comedy festival event.

You can follow Matt through his Facebook and Youtube.
