Matt Hollywood Illusions Magic Show
Matt Hollywood doesn't really exist. He's an illusion who can disappear in the blink of an eye. One minute he could be on stage and the next he's sitting in the audience.

Matt's illusions
There's more to Matt than meets the eye. He's an extraordinary entertainer, comedian and master illusionist. I was privileged to be seated in the VIP seats which not only gives you a close-up view (great for trying to spot trick secrets) but it also makes you a sure target for some possible stage presence. My advice is to wear some cool threads just in case.

Cheeky Matt Hollywood
The show started with a very interesting film clip about the history of magic and was followed by a spectacular 3D rainbow laser light display. What proceeded was some jaw-dropping magic. Matt's treatment of his glamourous assistant was questionable. Not only does he lock her in a dark box, he proceeds to pierce numerous swords through the box. On another occasion Matt confines his assistant inside another dark box and torturously twists her body like a pretzel. Not once does she complain. The only relief she gets is when Matt chooses his next victim from the audience. One woman was laid on the sacrificial table to be levitated in mid-air. Matt's unscrupulous behaviour includes pick-pocketing a wallet from an unsuspecting audience member, then setting it on fire. His cheekiness extends to hiding his hanky in the most unconventional places. Ladies, make sure you wear a brassiere. Enough said.

Matt is full of surprises and is sure to delight even the most sceptical party-pooper. Yes, he even does magic card tricks. The hand is quicker than the eye. Watch out for the flying cards. They make great souvenirs. Yes, I admit I was baffled.

Matt Hollywood's Magic Shop
Matt Hollywood doesn't miss a trick. He spotted a birthday girl in the audience and made her feel very special. She was spotlighted in the audience and invited on stage. His lovely gift to her was a hilarious attempt to create a balloon animal. Much to the young girl's delight, she was awarded a magic show bag which, by the look on her face, topped off her birthday celebrations.

My favourite trick was the half-bodied magician's assistant, beautifully dressed in fishnet stockings, high heels, a short flouncy skirt and nothing else. I did a double-take when she walked on and off the stage wheeling a trolley – completely topless. Unbelievable and completely amazing. Also amazing was watching his assistant chain him up with lock and key and within seconds of enclosing him behind a curtain, Matt walks out from behind the curtain and reveals his assistant tied up in his place.

Matt's generosity is apparent in the time he takes to greet his guests at the end of his show for a signed copy of his poster and a chance to take a photograph. He spoils his audience with complimentary refreshments of chocolates, lollies and a drink. Special magic show bags are on offer to purchase for those keen magicians.

Jacqx with Matt Hollywood
For the record, I never spotted any trick secrets. I was amazed at Matt's skilful delivery of every trick. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the belly laughs from Matt's quick wit. The audience interaction ensured that everyone left with a smile on their face and were keen to queue up to meet Matt and have their photo taken. I would thoroughly recommend you see the show at The Village Theatre, Sanctuary Cove. It's a fun night out for singles, couples, or families. A pre-dinner option is available to make the night extra special. If you can't make the show, consider booking Matt for a corporate, birthday, or wedding function. He travels to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne for private bookings. Book early to avoid disappointment.
