Box Hill has a sister city, the Japanese city of Matsudo which is on the outskirts of Tokyo. Box Hill Community Arts Centre, one of the most stunning buildings in all of Melbourne, will host a range of activities to celebrate this relationship between the 29 April - 18 May.

The City of Matsudo has a population of 461,000 and is home to a large number of foreign residents. The City of Whitehorse is also home to a huge Asian population.

Some of the events on offer include Japanese calligraphy workshops, Japanese cooking, Japanese ink art, Japanese shodo, ikebana and origami. There are classes for adults and children. At $15 to $20 dollars these workshops are very reasonably priced as well as culturally enriching.

There is also the Matsudo Week Exhibition - 'Japan in a Day' (29 April - 18 May). This is great for anyone studying or interested in Japanese culture as it will explore some of the day to day customs of Japan's fascinating culture.

There will also be the BoƮte World Music Cafe. This is overseen by shakuhachi player Anne Norman and held in the stunning Arbour Hall.
