While out on a country drive I discovered this sweet little vintage store in the historic town of Tarnangulla, west of Bendigo. The shop is set out in an historic old store building in the Main Street. Before we even got out of the car we received a warm "welcome to Matilda's" from the friendly bubbly owner, Frances. The shop is only open on weekends, so best to call or see the Facebook site for opening times for a visit. On most Sundays you will find this treasure trove of all things vintage open.

Inside the store you will find every knick-knack and cutesy item you can imagine. The stock is mainly vintage from the 1950s 1960s and 1970s with many of the made in Japan chinaware popular at that time. And it is now popular again. If you want to brighten up your home then this is the place. The shelves are full of kitchen items such as dishes, jugs and canister sets. There are also some kitchen dressers, small tables, and old cupboards for sale.

In another room on the side is lots of bedroom items such as lamps, cute collectable animal ornaments, and all things pretty. A young girl would love some of these items in her bedroom. Even a modern house can achieve a unique look with a touch of vintage homewares.

Frances continually updates her displays and eveyrthing is neatly arranged. New stock is coming in every week. Image by the writer.
Frances is a happy to assist customers with what they are searching for. Many customers are from the local towns and also on weekend escapes from Melbourne. So if you are travelling in the area or want to make a special trip to view some antiques towns in the area, be sure to stop by Matilda's Vintage of Tarnangulla.
