Giving birth to a child is one of the most joyous and daunting tasks a woman can undertake in her life (so I'm told). It is also one of the most nerve-wracking - there is always a strong sense of the unknown (no matter how many children you've had) and this, coupled with the usual concerns about the health of the child, and possible complications, can play havoc on an expectant mother's mind.

[ADVERT]It helps to know that there is support out there for people who may be experiencing first-time jitters or anxieties about their unborn child. The Maternity Wellbeing Expo , which will be hosted by St John of God Hospital on Sunday 13 October, will be the main place to go to get that support. At the moment, St John of God Hospital is undergoing extensive renovations and redevelopment, so they have opted to hold their event in the relatively stress-free environment of the Mercure Hotel (located a few doors down from the hospital). This is a free expo for all expectant parents, and they stress that everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of whether you plan to have your child at their hospital or at another establishment.

From 11am until 4pm, you will be able to access information and advice from a variety of maternity healthcare professionals, including representatives from the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program , Pathology , the Australian Breastfeeding Association , Pace Physiotherapy , and a host of other organisations who may play a role in your life either during or after the birth. There will also be exhibitions from retail stores that sell maternity swimwear and clothing, as well as photographers, and other creative types who help to create treasured memories of your new arrival.

If you have any questions about pregnancy, childcare, the birthing process, or products that can assist you during this exciting time, the Maternity Wellbeing Expo will be the place to be this Sunday, and would be well-worth attending.
