Turkish cuisine in Australia has made a big impact, from the mouth watering Kebab wraps to the toasty Pide. Specific Turkish cuisines however are hard to find and can't be found just anywhere.

Around Sydney itself you don't have to look far to find a kebab shop, their almost as convenient as a McDonalds restaurant at this point. However, if you're looking for an eatery that can be both laid-back and boastful of scrumptious foods, Matee's Turkish Grill, Gozleme & Teahouse on King St, Newtown is an easy choice.

Head Chef Keziban Ozkan comes from eastern Turkey carrying a heavy stack of amazing Turkish recipes which she has let us enjoy with her. Towards the east, the cuisines are intertwined with traditional Kurdish dishes that spark a amazing blend of flavours from both cultures.

This golden gem isn't only for the empty belly, the name teahouse is indented for the aromatic Turkish tea the place praises itself for. So if you're looking for a change of pace or just want to mildly visit the Mediterranean to unwind, this friendly staffed venue isn't hard to find.

Dishes start from $3 and range from Gozleme, Pide, Salads and Char Grilled Kebabs. A vegetarian selection is also available with foods such as Felafels and small dishes including Stuffed Vine Leaves, Stuffed Cabbage and Stuffed Capsicum.
