A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later - Stanley Kubrick

"Now you listen to me, I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me, and I don't intend to disappoint them all by getting myself "slightly" killed".

That's right movie fans, it's a blast from the past and the blast couldn't get any better than this. Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece North By Northwest is back on the big screen, captivating audiences once again.

On Wednesday the 14th of December, Event Cinemas - Chermisde is throwing a special screening for all great movie buffs at 7pm.

North By Northwest is an action packed thriller - there is not a single moment where boredom is even considered.

You've got everything you need to still attract modern day audiences.

Roger O. Thornhill (Cary Grant) is a middle-aged advertising executive who is mistaken for a government agent by a gang of spies. He is kidnapped by the gang led by Philip Vandamm, who believe Thornhill is CIA agent George Kaplan. After escaping his kidnappers, he must locate Kaplan in order to clear his name for a murder which he did not commit. He gets involved in a series of misadventures and is pursued across the States by both the spies and the government. '

The chase is on, will Roger find Kaplan before he is caught?

North By Northwest is Cary Grant at his best; fighting aggressively with spies and being on the run, but still finding the time to make his co-star (Eva Marie Saint) fall in love with him. Sorry girls but he is sentimental, and Cary Grant will always find the time to woo the ladies no matter what type of pickle he is stuck in.

This film has everything from violence to drugs to the almighty art auction and crop-dusting sequences.

Will Grant elude his would-be assassins? Will he discover the truth behind his mistaken identity quandary? Does it really matter? Grant will get them, and throw the book at them. Assault and kidnapping is nothing funny when you mess with Cary Grant.
He will always find his way out of any trouble he is in. So out of his way, because Roger O. Thornhill is here to amaze modern audiences and amazed you will be.

I give this film a 4/5 star rating.
