Published September 24th 2012
The Freemason movement in Queensland dates back to the 1850s. In 1921, the Grand lodge of Queensland was formed from the English, Scottish and Irish lodges in Queensland and a plot of land in Brisbane and what is recognised as the finest Masonic Memorial Temple was constructed and opened on 10th December, 1930.

The building was constructed in the Greek Revivalist style of the late 1920s, with a sandstone facade and granite base. The large Corinthian columns are surmounted by a deep entablature and pediment.
