Pre-loved merchandise at bargain prices at MCO
Being the daughter of a Freemason, I have known for many years the dedication to charity work carried out by different fraternities, even if some of these are not as well known to the general public. Like any groups that are thought to be of a secret nature, people are inclined to make up stories and boo-hoo any association with the craft. However, members are of worthy standing and have strong moral beliefs in the part they play in supporting the community and their families.

In Western Australia Masonic Charity Outlets (MCO) are currently located in Mt Lawley and Cannington. They are not your typical Ops Shop as they focus on quality recycled and donated products. The merchandise is displayed in a contemporary shopping environment so customers can enjoy a leisurely meander around the store while picking up bargains at a fraction of the price of other second-hand shops.

Founded and administered by Freemasons in Western Australia, MCO is an initiative of the Masonic Foundation in supporting those people in necessitous circumstances and the wider community. MCO is a not-for-profit charitable organisation with all proceeds going directly to the Masonic Foundation.

Donations can be dropped off at the Cannington Store during opening house; however, any larger or bulkier items can be arranged for collection by sending an email through the contact page on the website or by calling into the store to arrange a time. Items that are readily accepted at MCO are handbags, hats, accessories, clothing, costumes, Manchester and linen, garden items, sporting goods, tableware, musical instruments, toys, craft, antiques, bric-a-brac, homewares, electrical items, tools, furniture, DVDs CDs, mobile phones, furniture, men's and women's clothing.

MCO does not accept items that are damaged, soiled or broken, carpets or underlays, bed bases or mattresses, white goods, building materials, BBQs or any analogue or tube style televisions.

The key to donating is to donate items that you or others would like to purchase. Of course, the existence of all not-for-profit organisations would not be made possible without the kind and selfless time given by volunteers. If you would like to become a volunteer and be rewarded by meeting people from all walks of life and be in the knowledge that you are helping the community, please click here to find out more.
