Mary Valley Tourist Drive is a delightful journey along quiet country roads where the scenery is breathtaking. We started from the Gympie end of the drive and found ourselves meandering through quaint suburbia which quickly turned to rolling paddocks and beautiful rocky outcrops. We crossed many creeks and rivers which, surprisingly, were trickling with clear water. Don't forget to pull over to the side of the road and get out of the car to listen to the gorgeous sounds of the Bell Birds as they call to each other in the trees.[BREAK]

We turned off the main road onto Lagoon Pocket Road, which changed from tar to dirt in a 15 minute circle of true country life. The road is accessible by Sedan as it is sealed and well maintained. Keep a look out for the old bridge that adds character to the already beautiful surrounds.

Recommendations: Make a weekend of it and stay in one of the many charming B&Bs along the Mary Valley Way. We stayed at the Lagoon Pocket B&B for the night and continued our sightseeing the next day.

Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the tall trees at Little Yabba Creek park.

Like cheese and yoghurt? Why not stop by Kennilworth Cheese and try some tastings?
