Who hasn't heard of Mary Poppins? Did you know the creator of Mary Poppins, the author P.L.Travers was born in Maryborough Queensland? The folk there will celebrate again this year, with the
Mary Poppins Festival from June 23rd to July 2nd, '17.

Statue in Maryborough
Maryborough is very proud of Mary Poppins and there are many places around the town which celebrate the story.
"Pamela Travers was born in Maryborough on the 9th of August in 1899 to parents Margaret and Robert Goff. They named their first born child Helen Lyndon." From the Festival Website
The building in which she was born has a statue of Mary Poppins outside, and a display about her in front of the building, which has recently been purchased by the
Fraser Coast Council.

The Festival will be a 10 day program, with a range of events, including storytelling for all ages, music concerts, exhibitions and public art installations. The full program will be released shortly on the website

Why not make a note in your diary to take the trip to Maryborough? It is a 3 hour drive north of Brisbane, and accessible by train (to Howard and bus to Maryborough), bus and plane. It is during school holidays so there will be plenty for all the family to do during this time.
