Matt Byrne Media presents 'Mary Poppins', a musical based on the 1964 Oscar-winning Walt Disney film of the same name, adapted from the P. L. Travers' classic tale of a magical nanny. The show will premiere at The Arts Theatre on July 2nd playing until July 18th and continue at The Shedley Theatre from July 23rd – August 1st.
Musically directed by Gordon Combes and choreographed by Sue Pole, the story follows a magical English nanny called Mary Poppins who gets blown over to the Banks' household right when they're in need of a nanny. She then stays to care for their children.
During her time with the family they meet some colourful characters, including chimney sweepers and shopkeepers and go on amazing journeys, including a trip around the world, a picnic on the ceiling and a party in the zoo. But when Mary Poppins is happy with what the children have learnt from her, she has to move on and the west wind carries her away.
Starring Lauren Potter as Mary Poppins, James McCluskey-Garcia as George Banks, Ellonye Keniry as his wife Winifred, Shalani Wood as daughter Jane, Sebastien Skubala as son Michael, Megan Humphries as Miss Andrew, Penni Hamilton-Smith as Mrs Brill, Callum Byrne as the manservant Robertson Ay, Brendan Cooney as Bert the Chimney Sweep and Chris Bussey as The Bird Woman.
