Comics are not usually the stuff of which art exhibitions are made but Brisbane has been agog since the announcement that the Gallery of Modern Art had secured the comic coup of the century: exclusive Australian rights to the ground-breaking exhibition Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe .

You can read all about the exciting exhibition in fellow Brisbane writer, Kiesten's McCauley's article here . Superhero comic and pop culture cinema lovers from all around the country are currently gearing up for its opening on 27 May, but what they may not know is that in a parallel universe, GOMA's Australian Cinémathèque will be screening all your Marvel cinema favourites. On Wednesdays and Sundays from Saturday 27 May to Sunday 3 September 2017 you can catch all the best superhero cinematic action on a big screen for only $10 with a Marvel Film Screenings retrospective at QAGOMA.

The all-pervasive nature and far-reaching tentacles of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have some of you suffering from 'superhero fatigue' (it's a thing, apparently). Keeping up with the huge range of comics, feature films, phases, current and planned televison series, distribution deals, and IMAX presentations can obviously be exhausting. So, think of these Marvel Film Screenings as your back-to-basics opportunity to just kick back, zone out from all the add-ons and just enjoy the ride of your favourite films on the big screen at one of GOMA's cosy theatres.

All of your favourites will be there - see the full program here . You can go back to where it all began with Iron Man or The Incredible Hulk, have the gang all together with The Avengers, visit the "subatomic quantum realm" (really?) of Ant Man, or see the latest instalment of Guardians of the Galaxy. Late in the program you'll even be able to critically assess the newest Spider-Man iteration in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Movies screen multiple times throughout the program so you'll have more than one opportunity to enjoy your favourites.
