The Maroondah Singers are proudly presenting their annual concert event on Sunday the 12th October 2014 at the Karralyka Theatre in Ringwood.
This special family-friendly event has been christened 'Sing like there's no tomorrow', which refers to a lively, uplifting song by a contemporary Melbourne composer, Kathryn Sadler, whose energy and influence with singers and choirs alike greatly assists the creation of a unique Australian voice. She is always in great demand for workshops by choirs and soloists alike.
The Maroondah Singers will perform this song as part of this year's diverse programme, which also includes 'Be Still my Soul' or 'Hymn of Peace' by prolific sacred choral music composer and arranger Mary MacDonald, who hails from Tenessee and 'The Ground' by the award-winning Julliard-educated Ola Gjeilo from Norway.
In between these performances will be the always popular renditions of jazz standards (Don't Get Around Much Anymore, The Way You Look Tonight), ballads (Gonna Build a Mountain, He Ain't Heavy) and numbers from musicals, including the rousing Anthem from Chess which will showcase the talents of vocal soloist Stephen Coutts.
Dr John Atwell will also surprise and delight with two solos and there will also be a performance from special guests, Ukelele Kollective.
With a wide variety of music styles, genres and eras on offer, this year's annual concert programme has something for everyone.
For the Maroondah Singers "Music is what feelings sound like".
Come along with friends and family and enjoy this joyful concert event together.
