Market Street Lawn Opening - Review

A community event space can be found where once there was a railway line. Market Street Lawn was opened with a family fiesta on Friday 9 December.

Families were keen to discover the new event area and arrived early to get a good position on the long dining tables. Others chose to relax in deckchairs at the chill out zone whilst their children were entertained by the face painting fairies, inflatable slides, stilt walkers and bubble blowing. As the evening set in the party picked up with musical entertainment, food trucks serving delectable delights and a bar area for adults. Santa even made an appearance.


The ultimate plan is to bring people back to the city of Newcastle and places like Market Street Lawn will provide an active event space. Feedback on the event will be requested so that 'Revitalising Newcastle' can ascertain the types of pop up events that the community would prefer.
