Every third Sunday, the little beachside suburb of Seaford 36 kilometres south-east of Melbourne, hosts a local's market day.

For many years now, the Rotary Club of Frankston has been hosting Seaford Farmer's Market in the Broughton Street Reserve, just off Station Street. The market runs from 8am - 1pm.

Whilst on the smaller side, this is a farmers market that attracts many local shoppers and still offers a wide range of local produce available to stock up your fridge and pantry with.

Expect to find seasonal fruit and vegetables, pastas, fresh breads, cakes, jams, handmade soaps, fresh meats, free range eggs, takeaway coffees, and more.

As with most rotary markets, there is a $2 entry fee for adults, raising money for local community projects organised by the Rotary Club of Frankston.

After a meander through the farmers market, take a short walk over the bridge, along the bank of the picturesque Kananook Creek, to the relatively new Seaford Handmade and Homemade Market which runs on the same third Sunday of the month to coincide with the farmers market.

Set inside the local Scout Hall, you'll find a handful of local artisans selling such items as handmade baby clothes, room decor, handmade soaps, artwork, macrame pot plant hanger`s and other such creative delights. Seaford Handmade and Homemade Market runs from 10am - 3pm, I would therefore not recommend getting to the farmers market too early if you'd like to visit both markets on the same day.

One can easily spend a sunny Sunday taking in the delights of Seaford once a visit to both markets is complete. Seaford beach is just a short five minute stroll across the Nepean Highway, and is arguably one of the prettiest and cleanest found in Melbourne.

[ADVERT]For refreshments and excellent sea views, perhaps stop for light lunch at the Beach Cafe Seaford situated in Seaford's Surf Life Saving Club Building.

Seaford market day, a refreshing and relaxing start to a Sunday that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

To confirm future Seaford Farmer's Market dates, check out Vicmarket's website for a downloadable calender, and Seaford Handmade and Homemade Market's Facebook page to check out some of the artwork and craft available to buy at future events.
