The MarionLIFE Hunger Walk on Saturday 2 Nov 2019 from 9am to 11.30am along the Sturt River is all about raising awareness about those experiencing hunger. This is a fundraiser event to support the work of MarionLIFE Community Services who provide food, care and support to individuals and families in need.
Get onboard and raise money to fight hunger. Join the Hunger Walk by registering HERE. The walk begins at 887 Marion Rd, Mitchell Park with groups making their way along the beautiful Sturt River Linear Park for the 4km walk. GO GREEN for hunger. You're encouraged to wear something green on the day. For more details see HERE.
Arrive at 8.15am for a 9am prompt start. Parking is available on-site at the rear. Enter off Alawoona Ave. There's a water and fruit stop along the way and volunteers will see that you travel well. At the end of the walk awaits a family-friendly community event with music, kids activities, market stalls from local organisations and a hot breakfast. This event is catered for by Lions Club of Edwardstown, Foodbank SA and Once & Again Cafe.
Here are a few things you can do to help further. If you can't make it to the walk, you can still help with a DONATION. If you're already a part of the Walk, make an extra donation or commit to raising enough for a $30 Emergency Pack, $70 for 30 men to have a hot breakfast or $160 for 50 people to have a two-course dinner. You can also bring pantry staples on the day of the event like milk, pasta and cereals to build up the stores at MarionLIFE and put them in specially marked boxes. To contact MarionLIFE for more information, check their event page and there's a lot of information in the discussion section as well.
