the problem is not with Adelaide.

The Marion Outdoor Market is a large market held on the first and third Sunday of the month at The Marion Sports & Community Club, 262 Sturt Road, Marion. Not to be confused with the smaller indoor Marion Art & Craft Market in Morphettville, this one is for early birds as it is only open from 8am to midday.
With rain seeming only minutes away, I hurried through the gates and started hunting. After stopping to admire some beautifully polished rocking horses, I completely blew it. I knew it as soon as I said it to the middle aged lady: "Did it take your husband long to make them?"
Of course the lady was gracious (and said it wasn't the first time someone had made that mistake). She even explained how she had made some of the finer decorations, like individually inserting each horse's hairs. But, cringing inside, I moved on quickly. I decided not to make any comment at all about the next item I saw, ensuring there was no risk of further stereotyping.
Plenty of free parking was available, although once the rain started, getting out took a lot longer than getting in. Apparently there is limited space available under cover in the Club buildings, but most buyers were content to put up with a quick shower of rain. There's also a kids playground in the markets, so nobody needs to get bored.
My first thought is I should have arrived earlier, instead of 11.30 when some traders were already packing. I didn't have enough time to browse properly, and any bargains are usually sold very quickly.
Despite the cold and wet, there were plenty of buyers and sellers here, easy parking, and a variety of food available. It's just around the corner from Marion Shopping Centre, so also convenient to go.
I will definitely be back to see what goodies I can pick up.
