When you decide to take a career pathway as an artist, you often do so out of passion. For many who have ventured down this road, they know that following this passion comes with a price and often the reward does not equal to the value of the work.

Some pieces can take months, even years. You just have to dive into the history of Da Gama and Da Vinci to understand this. However, for Margaret Woodward, it took a lifetime to fill a gallery with priceless work.

Margaret Woodward is one of the very few women, if not the only woman, to receive the Wynne's Prize for Landscape. Her work is so sought after that there are two books published, both of which have been sold out and probably never be reprinted again.

Because of Margaret Woodward's age this will probably be the last exhibition. As a result there are only a few of her pieces available to purchase which, in my opinion, will soon be considered priceless.

The Gomboc Gallery have been Margaret's agent since 1993. They are showcasing a portion of her work to the general public until the 25 May 2014.

There are some artworks that can be purchased, however there is a limited selection with some including the First Snow, Guthega (my favorite) for sale. Of course, this piece may have been sold during the time this article has been written, so you may wish to contact Gomboc Gallery personally if you are interested in purchasing this piece.

Every large painting will be sold with a signed copy of her book (which is no longer in print). As a result, you will be walking out with two priceless artefacts, which will be a guaranteed investment. This is one of the moments where you have a chance to purchase a 'Da Vinci' original had you had the chance.

According to many, the master artist, Margaret Woodward is the best artist Australia has ever produced. Therefore, to class Margaret with the greats of the century is very befitting.

The Gomboc Gallery is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Of course, it is in the coffee strip of the Swan Valley, so you can quite easily turn this experience into a day trip.
