The reserved or official festival events are as follows:
On Friday the festival will commence with the 'Slow Food Long Table Feast,' an extended lunch at

2011 luncheon cost around $160, including music and cricket match.
Street Fiesta's in Margaret River and Dunsborough will conclude the afternoon's harvest in the evening from 4pm to 8pm with more food, wine and music to be enjoyed.
To Saturday's main event, which is the Vintage Festival, being held yet again at Palmer Wines in Dunsborough from 11am to 7pm. It is said that samples are open for over 200 varieties of wine.
The 'Live Art Tent' is setup for Artists to create masterpieces and for display of handicrafts or arts from a variety of occupational talents. Vendors within the region can get creative and show off their expertise. The industry also invites psychics to present their skill.
Farmer's Market is open from 9am to 12pm on the day and a kid's area is organised for the Vintage Festival also, with rides to keep the children amused.
Day three on Sunday will embrace the President's Twenty20 Cricket match, held at Cowaramup Oval from 1pm to 7pm. Remember to slip, slop and slap if you make a day out of this game.
A festival programme outline is available so that people can arrange their own special events or exhibits around the reserved or official events listed above, or present their exhibit at one of these currently listed events.

Business participation in the festival, other than visitors on the day, is based upon certain criteria. Interest is drawn for products and produce only located in the Margaret River region and should be industry related in some way, i.e. wine, food and art etcetera.
For the complete festival programme, look in The Sunday Times newspaper approximately one to two weeks before the event, after additional business participation is finalised. Major advertising campaigns are being run to assist the success of the wine festival as well and will be broadcast through Win and Channel 9.

[SECTION]The Filming of Drift and Sam Worthington[/SECTION]
With steadily growing international popularity, Margaret River is again making headlines around the world with the upcoming filming of 'Drift' to take place in March, featuring Western Australia's own
Sam Worthington . The surf film will be added to his list of hit movies, which includes the more recent 'Avatar.'
As James Cameron put it, he (Sam Worthington),
"has that quality of being a guy you'd want to have a beer with, and he ultimately becomes a leader who transforms the world." (from Wikipedia)
Thriving on accolades alone for this man would be possible, as Worthington's acting prowess will conclusively draw in the crowds and financial injection into the local community.
The surfing film will cost producers around $11 million, making it even more epic than the fame and tourism benefits that Margaret River will reap from its presence in and around the region. Locals may also get the chance to play as extras in the film.
The film, based upon the true story of two brothers in the 1970's, centres around the start of surfing culture in Australia and its complexities in shifting towards the modern day philosophy of travelling or drifting around chasing waves.
Surfing; something that was originally seen as holding little value or making no money, was now being thought of differently and surfing brands began transpiring on a global level.
Tim Duffy (Producer) says,
"Someone's never really made a film about the history and how we became prominent in that sport, in that culture."
'Drift' will be shot over a six week period in various locations up and down the South West coast of Western Australia between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin, with some scenes already completed. Sam Worthington will play the role of a surf photographer.
[SECTION]Telstra Drug Aware Pro 2012[/SECTION]
All this will occur around one of
Australia's largest surfing events of the year, 'The Margaret River Pro' or
'Telstra Drug Aware Pro' running Monday 19th to Sunday 25th March, 2012 at Surfers Point, Margaret River.
This exciting competition will showcase world-class surfing performances, with some of the best surfers battling the big
waves for $100,000 AU in prize money and the honour it represents.
Around two hundred
world surfers will vie for points decisive to the future 'World Qualifying Series.' The 'Margaret River Pro' provides free entry and a complete list of surfing competitors will be declared in February.
Don't miss what will be a remarkable opportunity to see some spectacular surfing action, in amongst the attractive scenery of Margaret River right here in Western Australia.
Margaret River has previously received attention with the production of scenes for movies such as 'Sabotaj' & 'Gripping Stuff 2.' Books like 'The World Stormrider Guide' have brought the area recognition as one of the top surfing venues in the world.
With the
recent bush fires destroying many homes around Margaret River, these three events should hopefully boost funds for the local economy and additionally assist those people in the community who have been devastated by the tragedy.
These events will again afford the people and businesses of the Margaret River region the chance to display their good quality local produce, a testament to the investment made in the area and the skill or experience they have shown in maintaining their successful ventures.
Get in early for
accommodation bookings . A day trip from Perth would be exhausting and not a great use of time when most of it would be spent commuting to and from the region.
Plan ahead and make it to one or all of Margaret River's biggest events so far this year and enjoy first-class wine, acting and surfing, among many other attributes of the area. There are many beautiful places and sights to see, mostly in a natural setting.
