Looking for a great hideaway location for time away with family and friends? Or perhaps a romantic couple's weekend getaway? Then the Margaret River Stone Cottages may just be the place for you.
Everyone is familiar with Margaret River and the surrounding area, its world class wineries, gastronomic delights and the stunning natural beauty that the area possesses. A mere 280kms from Perth, 15kms south of Margaret River and 30kms north of Augusta is where you'll find the Margaret River Stone Cottages.
Set on 115 acres of pristine jarrah forest, this privately owned property is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Margaret River life to be secluded and quiet but close enough to amenities for a quick drive to stock up on food or wine.
Four cottages are on the grounds of the property and each can sleep 4 -6 people. All cottages are 2 storey with sleeping areas upstairs and living areas downstairs. The décor is very "country" with stone and wood throughout giving it a very warm and cosy feel.
There is a log fire in the lounge room for those chilly nights and even though the cottages are 2 storey the heat circulates throughout all the bedrooms so everyone can stay toasty and warm.
The lounge and dining areas have views out to the forest and there is a covered pergola at the back with a fire pit and BBQ for those who like to sit and watch the stars and roast marshmallows.
The kitchen is well equipped with a gas stove, fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery. There is a communal laundry on the grounds in case of emergencies and the only downside for some city slickers is that there is no wifi.
As an added bonus, pets are welcome both on the grounds and inside the cottages. The back pergola is fenced off to allow them to have a bit of space whilst their owners relax and put their feet up.
There is a large grassed area in front of the cottages which gives the kids or pets a great place to run around and explore the bordering forest. The place is abundant with birdlife and animals , rabbits graze on the grass early mornings and our kids had a wonderful time "rabbit spotting" from their upstairs windows. The forest adjoining the property has walk tracks that take you through jarrah trees and if you are quiet small marsupials and kangaroos can be spotted here.
For those who like a good breakfast, the property has a chicken coop where eggs can be collected every morning. Take what you need and cook them how you like them.
Being centrally located between Augusta and Margaret River, staying at the Stone Cottages gives you options to explore the coast, caves and the forest. Do yourself a favour and have a look at this place as a base for your next trip into the wine region of WA.
