Yes, I know, it's actually a picture of actress Deborah Mailman, not Margaret Pomeranz of Margaret-and-David movie reviewing fame.
BUT... Margaret will be at the Gallery of Modern Art next Saturday 21 April to launch GOMA's Women in Australian Film festival -- which is what's being advertised on the poster featuring Ms Mailman (shown here in her role as Noni in the 1998 film 'Radiance').
The festival, curated by Pomeranz, features 16 Australian films, with highlights including 'Lantana', 'The Boys', 'Beautiful Kate' and 'Suburban Mayhem'. Also on show will be the wonderful 'Look Both Ways', directed by Sarah Watt, who passed away all too soon late last year.
Screenings run various days from 21 April to 18 July, with most films showing more than once and plenty of weekend and evening sessions. La Pomeranz will be at Cinema A in the gallery next Saturday at 5pm to join a panel discussion on women in contemporary Australian cinema.
All sessions are free (including the panel discussion) and bookings aren't required. However, space is limited, so GOMA advises turning up early to make sure you get a seat.
