My husband and I were at the Redcliffe Festival on the weekend and wanted a proper sit down meal. We walked along Redcliffe Parade and came across in a little arcade. We wouldn't have noticed this little gem if I hadn't poked my head down The Walk Arcade.

Walking towards Marcello's actually reminded me of our meanderings in Parisian arcades last year. The restaurant itself wasn't big, but they also had tables outside along the shopfront as well. Its decor was simple with tables covered in red and white checked tablecloths, plastic chairs and a few bits and pieces on the walls. Looking quite busy, we were a bit reluctant to go in and ask for a table fearing that they were booked out (as we had been told by a few other places). To our relief, we got a table in this cosy joint.

The menu comprised of entrees, mains, pastas, pizzas, and desserts. Lots of options means difficult decisions. Eventually, we went with pesto pizza bread to start; mushroom, spinach and bacon gnocchi; and scallops, mushrooms and Moreton Bay bug meat penne.

Despite their almost full restaurant, the food didn't take too long. Pesto pizza bread was flavoursome, crust was crispy and it had just the right amount of garlic and pesto.

When our pastas came they looked delicious and tasted divine. What I liked about this place was that their pastas and pizzas came in two sizes: small and large, which prevented me from overeating. Both our pastas were scrumptious and we polished them off in no time.

The waitresses were friendly, down-to-earth and very efficient. We didn't know what to expect when we walked into the restaurant, but we certainly came out fat and happy.

After dinner, my husband and I strolled back towards the stage just just in time to see the Polynesian dancers, who were very entertaining and totally awesome. We watched the whole show followed by fireworks and a quiet drive back home to end our perfect night!
