Authentic Italian dining experience
Marcellino Ristorante delivers authentic Italian fine dining in a warm, elegant atmosphere. The restaurant is tucked near the steps leading to the Scottsdale Waterfront. The patio feels intimate behind the iron railing and boasts a mural of the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome. The inside dining room's brick walls, wood accents and tablecloths welcomes diners and makes them feel at home.

A full bar offers multiple unique cocktails. Many of them sounded good but I had to order my favorite, a Bellini, which is difficult to find in restaurants. They, of course, list a vast selection of wine from various regions of Italy. The waiter helped my husband and I choose from the nice selections by the glass.

The menu has a wide selection of antipasti and salads. We ordered the buffalo mozzarella that was a special for the evening. The chef wrapped the mozzarella with prosciutto, placed it atop a tomato slice and added some roasted red peppers for a great combination of tastes.

Freshly made pasta is one of the trademarks of Marcellino. The waiter brought a platter to our table showing us each type of pasta and describing what flavor each was infused with and what would round out the meal. My husband ordered the fettucine infused with mushrooms and served with pieces of lobster and was not disappointed. Craving a steak, I order the Filet Mignon con Tartufo. The reduction and truffle oil drizzled on top were delicious but the steak was a little tough. The mashed potatoes and carrots served with it were just average. I regretted not choosing one of the pastas.

The handcrafted desserts menu features many Italian favorites. The Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake more than made up for the steak. It melted in our mouths and the flavor was amazing.

Marcellino Ristorante is worth a special night out in Scottsdale. The atmosphere and dinner live up to the prices. Check their website for the nights when they have live music for an extra treat.
