Impromptu adventuring, exploring our backyard and then putting pen to paper, hoping to entice you to try one, if not all, of our escapades, is my true reward!

Once you've done all your exploring i.e. the Wompoo Circuit in the Mapleton Falls National Park, why not pop into the Mapleton Tavern, a historical Australian pub, that has already achieved its 100th birthday. Positioned on the edge of the Blackall Range, at a height of four hundred metres above sea level, you will be treated to magnificent views of the Sunshine Coast, from Noosa to Maroochydore.

With a very friendly ambience, the dining style is casual and typical (in my experience) of Taverns on the Sunshine Coast - one goes to the counter, orders and then collects your meals when the buzzer sounds. Despite this slight enforced lull in conversation, we found the service quick, efficient and the food extremely tasty.

An extensive Menu with everything from 'Light Bites', which includes salads and burgers to 'Tavern Favourites', offering seafood platters, potted Guinness pies and 'Micro Meals'. Personally, I'm not sure what the difference is between 'light bites' and 'micro meals' - unless…..micro is referring to microwaved food?

Hubby and I decided on the special for the day - crumbed Dory with chips and/or salad. Our lunch was fresh and delicious and having chosen to sit outdoors, the spectacular views only enhanced our dining experience.

Mapleton Tavern appears to be extremely popular with both locals and tourists - the locals were enjoying their Friday afternoon, post work catch-up in the pub while the tourists were all opting for the scenic seating outdoors.
