Once again - Surfers Paradise calls to us so we acknowledge and book a place for one night. Have you ever just gone up or down the coast for a 1 night getaway? It's fantastic and you can pack a lot into 24 hours.
And where can you do that in Surfers Paradise that offers a whole host of entertainment? The Mantra Sun City resort is the place. Now whether you are coming with just you and your honey or are bringing the whole family, there will definitely be something for everyone on your list. You may even decide to bring Grandma and Grandpa along.
Set up like a Mayan temple, the architecturally pleasing atmosphere gives the feeling of being away on the tropical Mayan Riviera. The wooden carved benches, the stone statuary, along with the wall coverings in the lobby beg you to come and wander around the property.
Now the room (ours anyway) was a one bedroom apartment, a little dated, but wonderfully clean and spacious. It had a comfortable bed and came with everything we needed for our short stay, including the reason why we came. It is hard to beat the view from this room high up in the Mantra.
If you are here for more than just the view you will want to unpack quickly and head out to the pool area. The kid in you will delight in the speedy water slide that is free of charge, and sends you out in the a gush of blue water into the 1st of the 3 pools.
If you are so inclined or the day is cooler, you can swim inside, and head to the steam room or sauna once you are finished. You can even hit the gym while you are here.
There is a video arcade, a pool table, as well as a sand area for younger kids by the pool. The poolside bar allows a great vantage point to watch all the goings on. There is also a barbeque so you can cook a meal with the family, though you will have to enquire about utensils for barbequing.
There is a restaurant on sight that serves up a breakfast buffet and a menu of taste sensations for dinner, including some really scrumptious desserts.
As you head to the beach, which is only a couple of blocks away, you will pass the Tram station, situated right beside the hotel for easy, convenient access for the other places you decide to go during your stay.
There is a putt putt across the street and lots of natural and manmade things to do in and around Surfers Paradise. From theme parks to hikes up in the hinterlands there will be something for everyone.
Come for the views and stay for a night or come for a week and be amazed at all the things to do here.
