Hot on the flamenco heels of past Fringe smash Matador, Bass Fam brings the next instalment in the trilogy, the haunted house-themed fusion of dance, circus and burlesque MANSION to Gluttony at Adelaide Fringe 17th of February until 2nd of March.



In 2019, having forged a successful career as a visual creator and storyteller with a client list that included Dannii Minogue and L'Oreal Professional Australia, Bass Fam marked a new chapter by fusing his flair for his design with his passion for mythology and his love of dance, burlesque and circus with Matador, an acclaimed departure from the traditional cabaret format."I love variety shows and I love cabaret and Australian cabaret is some of the best in the world but I like to take it just a little bit further," Fam says. "Our stories are often not literal stories; we pose concepts, we pose themes, we pose ideas, and we do that through the colours, through the tonality of the music, through the covers that we record for the show and invite audience members to come up with their own stories."

With border closures preventing big-budget international acts from coming to Fringe in 2021 and 2022, Fam's Matador, with its grand scale and huge ensemble, was a reminder of the wealth of world-class local talent we have at home. "During the pandemic, we were told that art is not essential, so then it became: no let's show the world the incredible artists that we've got in Australia", Bass says.

Matador, Bass says, was an exploration of "the love that we have for our partners, for ourselves, passion and heartbreak and lust while MANSION, which was inspired by Fam's childhood obsession with horror films, "explores the love that we have for our family but also men's mental health."

After three seasons were cancelled due to the pandemic, Fam has re-assembled an all-Australian cast of ghosts and demons for a Fringe fright night like no other.
