Mansfield is a small country town at the foot of Mount Buller. Offering the great hospitality that comes with a small town alongside breathtaking views of mountains and waterways.
Located right in the center of town is the historic Mansfield Hotel. Offering a range of dining options with a fully stocked bar and a bistro boasting both indoor and courtyard seating. The beautiful courtyard has some great murals, serene water fountains and a playground for the kids.
The Bistro section of the Mansfield Hotel covers all your eating needs with a ranged menu offers something for everyone and allows even the pickiest eaters to be satisfied. Be sure to choose a comfortable table to browse through before heading up to the register to place your order.
The
Beer Battered Flake Fillets is a house specialty with a consistently changing flavor. The beer batter is created using the 'beer of the month' and was cooked to perfection with the fillets melting in your mouth and the batter giving the perfect crunch. The house made tartare was brilliantly created with a nice zesty bite. The salad was more than your normal lettuce and tomato fare and included seasonal produce. Whilst it is hard to go wrong with chips the Mansfield Hotel absolutely nailed theirs.
The
Rump Steak has a 500g notation next to it. Please take note of this. It isn't a typo. They really will serve you up half a kilo worth of meat. Be ready to attack this with the ferocity only an oversized steak can bring out in a human. A wide range of sauces is available to accompany your steaks but the Manson Hotel serve up awesome gravy.
The
Three Cheese Tortellini came together showcasing ricotta, parmesan and gorgonzola alongside sautéed chicken, mushrooms and sundried tomato pesto sauce. This complicated pasta dish will not only fill you up but also leave you feeling satisfied. The fresh pasta blends well with the varied flavours to present a mouthful of heaven that will transport you to the Italian inspiration for the dish.
Wood Fire Pizzas are a versatile range of dishes that can work as an entrée or main. During our visit we sampled the
Garlic & Herbs and
The Mansfield – both were great slices. There is a note at the bottom of the menu stating that "on a busy day/night your pizza may not arrive at the same time as your other meals" – please take note of this as we found this to be true.
offered a great location, quick service and quality meals. If you are staying or passing through Mansfield be sure to stop in to take in the history of the venue and have a well earned feed.
