One of Perth's top perks are its parks!
They are absolutely everywhere, and once you start discovering how great they are, you will get hooked like I am now. We tend to frequent the same hot spots as everyone else - Cottesloe, South Beach... the usual suspects.
But I've realised there are hidden gems all over - just pull out your Google Maps and pick the nearest green blob!
Today it was Manning Park, a large green and blue blob by North Coogee.
Plenty of room to play sports, picnic areas. playground, running track around the lake, even a little museum in a gorgeous historical building. The best part is the Manning Stairs - a lookout with a stunning 360 view of the park, lake and surrounding trees.
Be prepared to puff a little on your way up, we aren't used to this kind of thing in flat Perth! Once you get to the top, you can continue on the walking tracks over the hill and toward the sea. The views are stunning and there are few good resting/watching the sunset spots.
All in all, a lovely spot for a run, picnic, or leisurely Sunday afternoon stroll in our case.
