Watching the sunset at Mannering Park

With or without the threat of the coronavirus pandemic, Sydneysiders look forward to holidays and the opportunity for an escapade away from the Sydney crowd. The Central Coast is a short one-hour-or-so drive and is thus quite popular. There's The Entrance, which is an absolute stop for first-time visitors with children. Further on, bigger kids will enjoy the Treetop Adventure. The Norah Head Lighthouse can be added to the itinerary.

Driving down the M1 on the way to the Central Coast, however, is a hidden gem just 20 minutes off the motorway via the exit to Doyalson Link Road / A43. Mannering Park has the Ingenia Holidays and Monterey Tourist Park on the eastern side. The western side is more private, but promises a good waterfront holiday should you be able to book accommodations through short stay and holiday rental websites like Stayz or Airbnb.

Fishing is just one of the many activities

Mannering Park is a small and quiet community, but do not be deceived by its apparent silence. There are plenty of fun water activities you can do. Kayaking or canoeing is top of my list. You can also do some fishing.

And if you just wanted to chill and leave out outdoor activities at some other time, sunsets at Mannering Park are truly picturesque.

Watch the sunset as the horizon turns into a beautiful blend of colours.

Further north, the Caves Beach is a good alternative for those who love the sea.
