A pleasant day out on Brisbane's bayside
Ever found yourself wondering what to do on a pleasant day in Brisbane? Don't really want to spend too much (if any) money but could really do with a good dose of fresh air? A solution to your problem may be to take the journey along the Manly to Wynnum waterfront.
On Brisbane's bayside you will find the two suburbs of Manly and Wynnum, both areas are located within 3kms of each other, joining the two is a lovely wide path that meanders along the waterfront and is suitable for running, cycling, walking or roller blading.
The view from Manly looking Northeast, the start of the walk.
I find this walk particularly good when the tide is out as all the mudflats come alive with crabs and tidal pools to explore. If you have young children it is a great lesson in mangroves, tides and the sea creatures that live in the area.
Dotted along the way you will find seating and grassed areas with great views. There are also a few playgrounds and barbeque areas with great facilities.
The destination is Wynnum with its tidal pool to cool off in, great kids play areas and fish and chip shops to refuel for the return trip.
On your return to Manly you will also find cafes and playgrounds along with markets held every Sunday from 8am-3pm in Little Bayside Park on The Esplanade.
This is a good little trip to get everyone out of the house for a few hours and is particularly suited to Brisbane's Autumn and Spring climate when the temperatures aren't soaring.
This journey can of course be completed in reverse.
Don't forget to pack a hat, sunscreen, towels and some money for lunch or for an ice cream to enjoy on the walk back.
